High Lane

Today we dragged ourselves away from the delightful Bollington, mindful that there are other places to visit before we go through Standedge to the East. It was a rather pottering day. We pottered to Wood Lanes planning to walk to Lyme Park after lunch. A brief burst of rain proved to us that we weren’t that determined and we went on to Higher Poynton where we stopped to fill up with water. Our final burst of activity took us on to High Lanes where we moored for the night and popped into the Bulls Head. They gave us a friendly welcome and we fell in love with their little dog who cuddled up with us. The canal is extremely busy today with a constant stream of boats. Tomorrow we will move onto the Peak Forest Canal and it will be interesting to see how many boats divert off to Whaley Bridge and how many are ploughing round the Cheshire Ring.
