The rain cleared up this morning so we thought that we would make a dash for it, and as it happens the rain stayed away for the rest of the day, so we travelled a little further than we originally intended. You never know what tomorrow brings.
The journey up from Oxford goes along a Thames that twists and turns through glorious countryside at one stage I thought we might meet ourselves coming the other way as the bends were so sharp. And why is it that you can go for miles along a relatively straight bit and as soon as you enter a narrow twisty bit of the river a boat comes the other way.
We were reading about an incident at one of the weirs, where vandals removed all the paddles and drained the pound, I am sure that that is not the correct description for a section of river between two locks but you know what I mean. Not sure which weir it was but the one at Northmoor Lock is of the correct construction.

Paddles
They chucked all the paddles down stream and the poor lock keepers had to go and gather them all in.
Well we are moored up next to the Trout, on moorings for patrons only, so unfortunately we will just have to go and sample their ale.
Today we did 12.88 miles and 3 Locks
Statistics so far:-
681.15 Miles, 502 Locks, 47 Swing Bridges, 27 Lift Bridges, 6 Tunnels.
